NORWICH'S VERY OWN "LAKE DISTRICT"

OK, it's not Cumbria, but it's a whole lot closer, and arguably the weather is more forgiving. And once you're there, you 'll be amazed at what beauty and wildlife are right on your doorstep!

Having lived in East Anglia since the late '70s, I had no idea that we had such a lovely country park and lake on the outskirts of Norwich until I came to live here.

Whitlingham Country Park is just about 2 miles from our Airbnb townhouse in the centre of Norwich and is easily reached by bike and car. It's the sort of place to go and explore on a pleasant Sunday morning before lunch. The kind of place you can go to blow the cobwebs away and put some pink in your cheeks. Even perhaps have a coffee or cake.

Parking is convenient, right beside the water. There's a Flint Barn that houses a café with restrooms, information and a shop.

And then there's the lake itself. Many people come to get some exercise or take the dog for an outing. They walk, run or cycle around the lake, perhaps taking in the countryside and wildlife or concentrating on their training for an event. A National Cycle route passes through the park. And if all this isn't enough, check out Whitlingham Adventure for more land- and water-based activities.
